Pollination Generation!
Published 27/05/21The children in year 4 are just starting a project with Learning Through Landscapes and the National Lottery Heritage Fund called Pollination Generation. The children involved in this project will benefit from several things. COVID-19 has seriously impacted wellbeing and mental health especially with respect to children and young people. Through spending more time outside and getting involved in nature, this project firstly aims to promote greater social wellbeing, physical activity, and connection with nature for the younger generation.
The children not only learn more about pollinators but feel engaged and empowered to enact real-world changes to boost pollinator populations. During the project we will be making positive changes to areas of our school grounds, which will have a knock-on positive effect on children beyond the involved cohort for years to come.

Captain Tom 100 Fundraiser
Published 28/04/21On 6 April 2020, Captain Tom Moore set out round his garden to thank our NHS heroes. One hundred laps later, he’d raised an incredible £38.9 million for the NHS Covid-19 appeal.
His simple message of hope – “Tomorrow will be a good day” – inspired millions around the world and brought comfort and joy to so many during the pandemic.
Friday 30th April would have been his 101st birthday and to honour him and his amazing achievements we have been taking part in the Captain Tom 100 challenge.
Over the last week all of our children have been working together to complete 100 of an action or activity within school. In the Nursery the two classes have been jumping in and out of a hoop 100 times! In Reception the children have been doing star jumps 100 times between them! In Year 1 the children had to bounce the basketball 100 times between themselves and a partner. In Year 2 the children have been throwing and catching a ball 100 times in pairs. In Years 3 and 4 the children completed 100 rounds during their own class games of Rounders! In Years 5 and 6 they have been completing 100 laps of the school playground!
